John 11:36-43 – If You Believe

It was four days later when Jesus arrived outside the cave where Lazarus’ body laid. He commanded, “Take away the stone” but Martha resisted the idea because Lazarus has been dead for four days.  I would have responded the same because it was a dead situation.

However, Jesus said: Did I not tell you if you believe, you would see the glory of God?” (verse 40)

“If you believe” is the answer to your “dead” situation.  I am not talking about somebody dying but rather someone who is facing a hopeless & helpless situation.

What did Martha do to show that she believed in Jesus??  The story went on to say in verse 41 “So they took away the stone.” You have to act on your belief and do whatever God is telling you or what the bible says. Action completes our faith in Jesus.  Many people say they believe in God but when it comes to action, we chicken out and fail to activate faith which works miracles.  The moment we act upon what Jesus tells us, God hears Him and comes to our rescue.  Remember, Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God interceding for us.  So our petition will first go to him and then he presents it to God our Father.  For that reason ending our prayer with “in Jesus’ name” is very powerful!

Jesus called out to the dead body and out came Lazarus alive!  Take off the grave clothes He commanded again.   He exchanged the garment of mourning with the garment of praise.

Are you facing a “dead” situation right now?  Although you pray and remind yourself to believe in Jesus, nothing seems to happen.  Stop running around, acting on your own and listening to human voices.  Instead be still and hear from God, obey and do what He tells you even if it seems silly and you may be ridiculed.

True faith is to HEAR and DO resulting in MIRACLES!
